The origins of Heimerzheim Castle date back to the Middle Ages. First mentioned in documents in the middle of the 13th century as an old knight's castle, the first parts of the building were built as a defensive structure at that time. Over time, the castle's various lords expanded and rebuilt the complex. The Lords of Heimerzheim lived in the castle until the first half of the 14th century. Ownership then passed to the Teutonic Order, which used it as a commandery. In the following centuries, the castle changed hands several times from noble owners until it finally came into the possession of the family of the Electorate of Cologne minister Count Caspar Anton von Belderbusch in the 18th century. Through the marriage of Josephine von Belderbusch to her cousin Baron Karl von Boeselager, Heimerzheim and the neighboring Schillingscapellen monastery came into the possession of the Boeselager family, originally from the Magdeburg Börde region, to this day. The resistance fighters Georg and Philipp Freiherr von Boeselager, who were involved in the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944, also came from Heimerzheim Castle. Now in the sixth generation, the castle is privately owned by the Freiherr von Boeselager family and is now used commercially. The castle is a beautiful event location and the ideal place for private celebrations in an upscale setting as well as for company parties and company presentations in an extraordinary ambience. The Rösberg Castle was probably built in the 12th century. After several changes of ownership, it fell to the electoral chamberlain Gaudenz Freiherr von Weichs in 1629.
