Krąg Castle

Highlight • Castle

Krąg Castle - a historic castle located in Krąg (West Pomeranian Voivodeship), directly at the Castle Lake. One of the most interesting modern residential premises in Pomerania.

The first mention of the stronghold comes from 1495. During this period it was built by Adam Podewils in the form of a residential tower surrounded by a moat. This tower was completely demolished and in its place (in the 1880s) a Renaissance-style residence stood (the initiator of the construction was Feliks von Podewils), later rebuilt in the 17th and 19th centuries (this second interference, in the neo-Renaissance style, took place on the initiative Karl Wilhelm von Riepenhausen).

The building burned down in 1945. Until 1956, the remaining remnants of the forestry and school. Then, in the years 1958-1960, the building was partly secured, but abandoned it was destroyed. In the 1970s, it was rebuilt for the purposes of the forest district, which was discontinued for financial reasons. In 1990 sold to a private owner. A complete renovation was carried out to the condition before 1945, thus including all conversions. Currently, the Podewils Hotel is located here with a beach and bathing jetties. Source: Wikipedia.

Warcino Palace

Highlight • Castle

In 1485 the estate was a fiefdom of von Zitzewitz. After the Thirty Years War, part of the estate was sold to the Massows. In the 18th century it came to the von Podewils, through marriage to Constantin Freiherr von Blumenthal. He had to sell the estate in 1867 due to over-indebtedness. Otto von Bismarck, whose wife grew up on a neighboring estate, became the new owner. Wilhelm von Bismarck had the palace expanded with a neo-baroque wing. Inside, Otto von Bismarck's study with original furniture and a large Silesian tiled stove can be viewed today. An education center is now housed in the carriage shed opposite the castle. Johanna von Bismarck's rose garden once existed in the extensive landscape park. The Bismarck family mausoleum and the graves of Bismarck's dogs are also on the property. A beautifully situated castle on a lake, converted into a hotel and restaurant. There's a viewing terrace where you can eat or drink while enjoying the lake view. The castle itself is in good condition, and nearby is a small, restored church. It's a truly beautiful place.
