The history of the New Castle in Płoty begins in 1577, when the Osten family, the previous owners of the Old Castle, sold it to the Blücher family. However, they did not leave Płoty, but bought a plot of land near the former seat and built a new castle on it, similar to the old one. This one was also surrounded by ramparts and a moat, although it did not serve a military function. Initially, it was smaller and more modest than the old one, but over time, after further reconstructions, it became increasingly magnificent and representative. The castle underwent its greatest modernizations at the beginning of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century. It gained its current appearance after another reconstruction in the years 1910-1912.

The Old Castle in Płoty was built as early as the 13th century. It was a rectangular, four-story building surrounded by a defensive wall. The castle repeatedly changed its appearance and owners. The greatest modernization took place in the 14th and 15th centuries, and in the 16th century, it was rebuilt into a Renaissance residence. In 1860, the castle burned down and remained in ruins until after the war. In the years 1959–1967, the castle was rebuilt and designated for municipal cultural institutions.

In the center of the village are the remains of the former Protestant cemetery, as well as the foundations and ruins of a demolished church. There is also a monument dedicated to the former residents of the village of Żółwia Błoć (until 1945 Barfussdorf), who died on the fronts of World War I. A newer sculpture is of a monk and the Lord Jesus, made by a local artist, Jacek Jancelewicz. There are plans for more sculptures. For many years, on Good Friday at 8:30 p.m., actors from Maszewo have been staging the Stations of the Cross here.

The only preserved city gate of Goleniów. An impressive six-story building from the 15th century. It has survived to this day practically unchanged. In 1971-1972 the gate was restored. In 2003, the passage under the gate was closed. Currently there is a tourist information point there.
