St. Stanislaus Bishop Wooden Church in Barcice

The Church of St. Stanisław Bishop in Chotk from 1527 is the only preserved object of a wooden sacral building from the 16th century in the Kielce region.
It was built on a rectangular plan of 12x7 meters, without a separate sacristy and chancel, with a three-sided apse on the east side. The gable roof made of larch wood, with a gable on the west side, is covered with shingles. In the middle of the ridge of the roof is a pierced, copper-clad tower with a bell.
The southern porch was added later, after the church was built. Inside the building, some elements of the original decoration and equipment have been preserved. Inside the church there are stone Gothic pews and a late Renaissance pulpit.
The church has a beamed ceiling with a preserved 16th-century Renaissance polychrome depicting coffers with rosettes. There is research to suggest that this ceiling may have come from another, older church.

The building was damaged during the First World War. On August 18, 1920, an artillery shell shattered the wall of the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Panes of glass fell from the sanctuary windows. Retreating Bolshevik troops destroyed the roof of the church. In September 1939, the church was destroyed by a fire caused by the bombing of the city. The church furnishings, such as the pulpit, baptismal font, pews, confessionals, and organ, also fell victim to the fire. The Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the two oak confessionals were not destroyed. Services were held in this chapel until the end of World War II. In my opinion, this is a great place for beginners and those who are planning their first trips to the mountains on more difficult routes. Singletrack full of moguls and gently profiled turns will be a great training ground for learning the technique of overcoming this type of obstacle. After training on such a route, it will be much easier for people who would like to ride bike parks and flow routes in the future. It will also work great as a training XC route. Thanks to the great fluidity of the entire loop, you can specifically train maintaining speed and polish your technique on alternative obstacles. In several places, the route is intersected by ordinary forest roads, which also allow you to train smaller loops. Cyclists focused on enduro and terrain should not kid themselves that this is the terrain and route for them. Knowing well the realities of flat as a table Mazovia, Singletrack in Rząśnik is a really good alternative to places like Kampinos, Wieliszew or Stara Miłosna.
