The cemetery is the resting place of about 800 Polish soldiers of the "Poznań" Army and the "Pomorze" Army, who fell in September 1939, primarily between the 16th and 18th of September, during battles after the Battle of the Bzura River. Units of the 7th Greater Poland Uhlan Regiment and the 14th Jazłowiec Uhlan Regiment fought here, among others. After the battles on the Bzura River, Polish units attempted to break through the Kampinos Forest towards Warsaw. Very heavy fighting occurred in the Zamość, Górki, and Cisowy area. Many soldiers died right here.

It was a real railway through the middle of the Forest It was called the forest railway „Zamczysko”. It had a very narrow gauge — 600 mm. It was created during World War I, around 1916–1917, on the initiative of the German occupation authorities. Its main task was to transport huge amounts of wood from the Kampinos Forest. And here is a rather grim part of the story: the railway enabled the Germans to exploit the forest much more intensively. Wood was transported to sawmills, and part of it was further transported via the Vistula River. After gaining independence, the railway was operated by Polish authorities until the establishment of the Kampinos Landscape Park, i.e. until 1961

The Open-Air Museum of Forest Architecture – a small open-air museum (three farmsteads) in the village of Granica near Kampinos. It largely represents the vanished wooden folk architecture of the Kampinos Forest. It is part of a small section of the once planned Ethnographic Park. It is part of the Jadwiga and Roman Kobendz Educational and Museum Center, part of the Kampinos National Park. https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skansen_budownictwa_puszcza%C5%84skiego_w_Granicy https://kampn.gov.pl/osrodek-dydaktyczno-muzealny-w-granicy

A great place, an old settlement with a double moat for defense, and some nice piers. Worth a visit.
