The name is misleading, it is not Palcza, but Bieńkówka.

It's best to go from the market square along the ulica Świętego Jana, sometimes quite steep :). The castle ruins have been renovated, admission is free

According to written sources, the castle in Lanckorona, also known as Lanckorona Castle, was built by Casimir the Great in the mid-14th century; it guarded the border between the Kraków region and the Duchy of Oświęcim, whose ruler John I Scholasticus paid homage to the Czech king John of Luxembourg in 1327. At that time, the border ran at the foot of Lanckorona Mountain, west of the hill. https://pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zamek_w_Lanckorona

The Lewakowski family was the last to know the original recipe for Izdebnicki rowanberry, and after the death in 1980 of Jakub Lewakowski, Zygmunt's son, they did not pass it on. During the war, the occupier produced flavored vodkas for Nazi dignitaries in the distillery buildings. After the war, production was stopped and the factory buildings began to fall into ruin. To this day, the administration building of the famous alcohol factory has been preserved in relatively good condition, while the remaining buildings either no longer exist or are in a state of greater or lesser ruin. The area is completely fenced, but most of the buildings can be seen from behind the fence.

The ruins of a vodka and liqueur factory founded at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries by Archduke Rainer Habsburg of Żywiec, with the help of the excellent manager Ludwik Seeling. The factory's flagship product was mountain ash, produced on a large scale, valued throughout Galicia and sought after in Europe. Rowan tincture was already known in these areas. There is a legend that the inventor of the original recipe of Izdebnicki rowanberry was Staszek Prymus, a simple peasant from the vicinity of Wola Radziszowska. The original rowanberry recipe (proportions of ingredients) was later known only to the owners of the Factory. In 1919, the very prosperous alcohol factory (along with the entire Izdebnice estate) was sold by the Habsburgs, under duress, to the Lviv Credit Land Bank. Otherwise, the Habsburgs could have lost these goods. The bank, in turn, sold the property and the factory in 1922 to Zygmunt Lewakowski, a famous industrialist who continued the production of famous vodkas.
