Dziećkowice Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

Dziećkowice Reservoir (Imieliński Reservoir) - a post-mining reservoir located between Mysłowice and Oświęcim, next to Imielin. It is located right on the border of the Śląskie and Małopolskie voivodships, it was built in 1985.
The dam is 7 meters high, the maximum depth is 12 meters, and its area is 7.3 km², while the total capacity is 52.8 million m³, the average width is about 1.8 kilometers, the length of the reservoir is 4.3 kilometers.
This reservoir was created in the mid-1970s, in an excavation that is a remnant of the former sand exploitation area, and was used in mining for backfilling purposes, for the Maczki-Bór mine in Sosnowiec. The mine was extracting sand to fill the mine workings.
Earlier in this area there was a forest with many ponds and very clean spring water - the so-called riparian forest. It is powered mainly by water, discharged from the distant system of the Skawa - Soła rivers.
It is one of the cleanest reservoirs in the Silesia Province and serves as a drinking water reservoir.

Central Labor Camp JAWORZNO

Highlight • Historical Site

Hitler's German labor camp
Before World War II, the area of the Jaworzno camp and the sub-camp in Chrusty belonged to Jaworznickie Mines S.A. in Jaworzno.
On June 15, 1943, the Germans established a sub-camp of KL Auschwitz-Birkenau - Arbeitslager "NeuDachs" No. 147 here.
Shortly before the advent of the Red Army, on January 17, 1945, the Germans led a column of prisoners from the sub-camp in Jaworzno. They had a 250 km route to KL Gross-Rosen in Lower Silesia (the so-called death marches).
Establishment of the Central Labor Camp in Jaworzno
On April 6, 1945, the Ministry of Public Security, on the basis of Circular No. 42, established the Central Labor Camps, establishing camps in Warsaw, Poniatowa, Krzesimów, Potulice and Jaworzno. However, the Central Labor Camp in Jaworzno started operating even before the circular came into force, in February 1945.
The Germans left an undamaged camp consisting of 15 wooden barracks, brick baths, kitchen, hospital, delousing facilities, workshops and warehouses. The camp was fenced with a double strip of barbed wire connected to high voltage, in addition, there were 12 brick watchtowers with machine guns and searchlights in the fence. The camp prison was located in the premises of the former camp laundry. The northern part of the camp, from the side of the Kraków-Katowice road, was protected by a wall 5 m high, built after the war.
COP Jaworzno was subordinate to the Department of Prisons and Camps of the Provincial Office of Public Security in Krakow, commanded at that time by Lieutenant Jakub Hammerschmidt (from 1946 Jakub Halicki).

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a mine and a gypsum processing plant started operating in Chełmek (now the area of the Bobrek forestry settlement).
The works were carried out using the opencast method, as evidenced by the remains of workings. The extracted crystalline sheets of calcium carbonate were roasted and ground in a mill located near the forester's lodge. Millstones, weighing about 1.5 tons, were set in motion with a steam engine.
The initiator of the industrial enterprise was Princess Maria Ogińska, heiress of the Bobrecki estate. Operation lasted only a few years. It is difficult to establish what caused the mine's shutdown. The deposit was probably small, and the extraction was hampered by the silt and clay present here.
In 2005, thanks to the financial support of the Rural Development Foundation and the Batory's old millstones have been exposed and made available to visitors as a tourist attraction.

Bielnik Ponds

Highlight • Lake

The pond complex is located in the southern part of the city, in the Dąb region, within the Chrzanów forest complex, Chrzanów Forest District. The reservoirs are located in the area of the former "Tarka" leisure and recreation center, which now belongs to Kompania Węglowa. Despite the fact that the years of its splendor are behind it, it does not lose its attractiveness, if only because of its biodiversity, which is richer here, compared to many other places in Jaworzno. The presence of 4 ponds, separated from each other by dikes and the surrounding forests, are the conditions for the growth of biodiversity in this area.

Kochbunker of the B-2 line

Highlight • Monument

In the Imielin - Bielsko-Biała - Żywiec - Zwardoń belt, in the line of field fortifications, there are about 500 concrete structures of the kochbunkier type, i.e. universal positions for infantry.
They were embedded in the ground, in the line of shooting and connecting ditches, or they were slightly put in front of the trench and connected with it by a ditch. They were perfectly masked, from the foreground side they were covered with earth to the height of the shooting range (combat facilities), and in the case of observation couplers and the Kampfstand function (without a wall shooting range), from the side of the attack they were buried in the ground to the ceiling height.

The footbridge is made of pre-stressed concrete, and in the middle of the footbridge there is a vantage point with elements of glass-corten balustrades. The whole thing is lit and illuminated.

VELOSTRADA

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The official opening of Velostrada took place on September 30, 2018.
Cyclists gladly use this place. How is it different from other roads?
Cyclists can speed up to 50 km / h on the Velostrada.
Most importantly - the road is collision-free. It has two roadways with two lanes and a footpath. It is also where inline skaters run, but they can only ride on the pavement.
The route runs from ul. Pushkin in the Permanent Estate to the Center in the vicinity of Galeria Galena.

Apparently there is a favorable microclimate in the air around the Tarka reservoir and a high iodine content in the air.

Belnik Ponds in Jelenia-Dęba is an ideal place to relax. Once upon a time, there was the "Wrzos" hotel, famous in the entire region, and summer houses of the Jaworzno Mine Recreation and Recreation Center. To this day, a trace of it remains in the form of lighthouses. Belnik Ponds is a perfect place for anglers. There are red and blue tourist trails running around the area. The blue and black bicycle routes are also marked. There are ponds in Byczyna nearby. You can get to the area of "Tarka" by car, which you will have to leave in the parking lot in front of the barrier and take a forest path among the trees to reach the water reservoirs.

A beautiful, picturesque area, located in the forest among several fish ponds. There is also a very colorful playground for children, an indoor restaurant, outdoor tables and the opportunity to drink beer or coffee under a tent on hot days. Peace and quiet.
