On April 6, 1945, the Ministry of Public Security, on the basis of Circular No. 42, established the Central Labor Camps, establishing camps in Warsaw, Poniatowa, Krzesimów, Potulice and Jaworzno. However, the Central Labor Camp in Jaworzno started operating even before the circular came into force, in February 1945.
The Germans left an undamaged camp consisting of 15 wooden barracks, brick baths, kitchen, hospital, delousing facilities, workshops and warehouses. The camp was fenced with a double strip of barbed wire connected to high voltage, in addition, there were 12 brick watchtowers with machine guns and searchlights in the fence. The camp prison was located in the premises of the former camp laundry.
