Since 1998, a monument commemorating Father Piotr Wawrzyniak has stood in Mogilno City Park – one of the most outstanding social and economic activists of the turn of the 20th century, sometimes called the "uncrowned king of Poland." 🧠 Who was Father Piotr Wawrzyniak? - Born in 1849, he died in 1910 in Poznań. - He was a clergyman, a member of the Prussian Parliament, and an organizer of cooperatives, people's banks, and educational institutions. - In Mogilno, he served as parish priest of St. James's Parish and became renowned as a tireless restorer of the monastery church and a local leader. 🏛️ Monument and Memorial - The monument is located in the central part of the City Park, near other memorials, such as the Monument to the Heroes of the Struggle for Polishness in the Mogilno Land and the plaque dedicated to John Paul II. - Wawrzyniak was buried in the Mogilno cemetery, where his tomb, designed by Stefan Cybichowski, is located, featuring a medallion by Władysław Marcinkowski.

🏛️ History and Architecture - The first mention of the parish in Wilczyn dates back to the 13th century, and St. Ursula's Church existed as early as 1348. - The current church was built of brick in the Gothic style in 1566 and consecrated in 1620. - The nave was extended in the 19th century, and a spacious porch was added on the western side at the end of the 20th century. - The church has a single nave, with a narrower and lower chancel enclosed by a polygonal arch. St. Martin's Church in Linówiec – a wooden branch church dedicated to St. Martin. 🪵 History and Construction - The church was founded in 1749 by the village owner, Sebastian Cząstkowski. - Built using log construction on a stone foundation, it is timbered and oriented – in keeping with tradition, the chancel faces east. - The church has a hall-like layout, without a separate chancel, and is enclosed on three sides. - The mansard roof, covered with sheet metal, is topped by an octagonal bell tower with an onion-shaped dome and a lantern. 🎨 Interior and Furnishings - The interior is covered with a flat ceiling with a coving, and the choir loft, supported by two columns, houses the organ case. - The main altar comes from the Reformed Friars Minor monastery in Pakość – Baroque, from the first quarter of the 18th century, with sculptures of adoring angels and a painting of the Marriage of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Joseph – a rare motif in church iconography. - At the top of the altar is an oval painting of St. Martin. - The side altar and pulpit represent the Baroque-folk style, from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. - Remnants of polychrome paintings have survived, as well as a granite stoup and a processional cross with the date "1756."

Beach on the beautiful Lake Wilczyńskie. The beach is sandy, so almost like a beach on the Baltic Sea (almost...). There is also a nice pier. There are holiday resorts here, so it can be very crowded: no wonder it is popular: it is beautiful here.
