Cliffs of Telašćica Nature Park

Highlight • Gorge

Very wild and impressive coast of stones and high cliffs. The alleged "silver lake" nearby is supposed to attract tourists, but for me it was rather a big mud hole.

The "love storm" on Silba was built in 1872 by a sailor named Petar Marinic for his lover Domenica Rasol. Originally he had promised your mother that if he came back from seafaring. he would build a house with a garden for her and a tower in it, from which she would be able to see the whole island and see when he arrives.

However, at some point his beloved was tired of waiting and married another and fathered a daughter, Domenica said. When Petar came back from Lake after long years, he saw the daughter who looked so much like her mother that he fell in love with her and built the tower for her instead of the mother.

The tower actually offers a wonderful view over the city of Silba and the surrounding sea. The access to the tower is accessible via the gate to the right of the tower and is freely accessible, even if you feel like walking through the garden of a resident. At the top, the steps are very narrow, so rather something for halfway dizzying people. It may be better to climb the lanky tower one by one, but the view is worth it ...

Church on Ist

Highlight • Religious Site

Little is known about the church itself. It was closed on our arrival, no further information was to be found. The rise has something - at least in the summer temperatures in Croatia - something in itself and is decorated with 15 wooden panels that are supposed to represent the Way of the Cross of Christ. The view from up there is breathtaking and worth the effort anyway.

The easiest way to reach the church is from the town of Ist, where the trail is also signposted. Another option is available from the northern bay (with buoy field for boats) right at the eastern end of the passage between Molat and Ist. However, this route is sometimes difficult to pass because it is probably no longer maintained or used.

Worth to visit this small salt lake. It can be ride around by MTB. That's 500m from the Cliffs rocks.

A short hike on the narrow path along the cliffs to the karst landscape is absolutely worth it!

Veli Rat Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

There is a campsite and various beaches. Down by the lighthouse there is a farm shop where you can get fresh bread, fruit & veg and fresh eggs. You can take great photos here at sunrise and sunset.

Sali Harbor

Highlight • Settlement

Very cute little port. The Konoba Marinov Magazin is the best restaurant in town...it's also great that you can look out over the harbor from the first floor as if from a kind of balcony.

Sakarun Beach

Highlight • Beach

Incredibly beautiful beach, rather unusual for the Croatian coast, as the beach is made of sand. Most Croatian beaches are rather rocky, so the water is so incredibly clear. Here you have both ... clear water and sand.

The rocks with their crevices are a challenge. Some stones are wobbly. Sturdy shoes are recommended and take every step carefully.

I definitely recommend sturdy footwear for the trail along the cliffs! The path is marked with blue markers! At the outer edge of the cliffs, people have been seen jumping into the sea from various heights!

The salt lake is nice to look at, but won't blow you away. The entry side is teeming with swimmers (tourist boats), while the opposite side is much more relaxed. Don't forget your water shoes (rocks, muddy/slippery). The sea is much more appealing for swimming! You can walk around the lake on a path; I recommend sturdy shoes. P.S.: It is NOT Winnetou's "Silver Lake," even though the tour operators like to say that!

The lake itself does not offer any special highlights. Its foam crowns are evidence that it is a salt lake.

Great. In the off-season you are completely alone here. The sunset is awesome.

Here stones were stacked directly on the coast. What is viewed critically in other countries seems to be an attraction here. It's actually nice to look at, but you should go further to see untouched nature.
