It was built on the foundations of an old, smaller church from the 17th century, which was closed in 1888 due to dilapidation. After the old church was closed, masses were celebrated in the cemetery church of Saint Archangel.[1][2][3] The foundation stone of the new church was laid on August 28, 1899, and the church was completed in 1906 and consecrated in 1908. The church is located in the center of Drniš, and was designed by the famous Croatian architect Ćiril Metod Iveković in the spirit of eclecticism, combining elements of Byzantine and Romanesque architecture. Due to lack of money, the dome project in the spirit of Byzantine architecture was not realized, so the building is dominated by neo-Romanesque style features.

The parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary is a church in Drniš that was built from 1871 to 1886. In the municipality of Drniš, it was decided to build a new and bigger church in 1846, therefore a request was sent to the then headship in Zadar for construction approval. The district administration approved Drniš's request and informed the state authorities. He is an authorized engineer for the conceptual design of the building. The cornerstone was blessed on May 21, 1871 by parish priest Stjepan Zlatović. The church was built in the (neo)Romanesque style, it is a three-nave central building with simple decoration.
