Once planted on open heathlands in the northern Randbøl Heath in 1809 and known as Gjødding Plantation, Gødding Skov has transformed into a diverse forest of spruce, beech, and oak. Hidden among its northern and south-western parts are hundreds of stone mounds — remnants of 2,500-year-old field systems from the Early Iron Age, built from stones cleared by farmers to cultivate the soil. The ancient Oxen or Army Road crosses the area, leaving behind sunken tracks and over 20 burial mounds along its path. At the heart of the forest stands Kæltringhøj, an impressive Bronze Age burial mound rising 5 meter high with a diameter of 45 meter. A striking testament to the area’s deep history.

The Renaissance castle Engelsholm Slot is beautifully situated on the shores of Engelsholm Lake with its associated forest and park. The castle has had many owners over the years but has been used as a college since 1940. The castle is rectangular in plan with square towers with onion domes at each corner and inspired by the castle Ancy-le-Franc in Burgundy, France - almost a copy with "pure" Danish lines. https://www.visitvejle.dk/vejle/planlaeg-ferien/engelsholm-slot-gdk608111

Gallery only open by appointment, but really cool art outside that can be enjoyed at any time. Picnic tables with a fantastic view, but unsure if private area or free to use by the public as well.

One of Denmarks first factories, Engelsholms Papirfabrik, was located near the now museum of Randbøldal. The factory was water powered and produced paper and later textile as well. https://www.vejlemuseerne.dk/besoeg-os/guides/lichtenberg/guide/papirfabrikken/ https://randboldal-fortaellerrute.webnode.page/papirfabrikken/ The museum is free, but is closed during winter. https://www.vejlemuseerne.dk/besoeg-os/randboeldalmuseet/ https://www.visitvejle.com/vejle/plan-your-holidays/randboldal-museum-gdk720814 Dalkilde - Det Hvide Palæ is the grand but slightly neglected building on the hill overlooking the parking area (formerly the drying area for the factory). The estate was acquired by a family in 2019, who aim to restore it and nurture a creative space for the community. https://dalekilde.dk/ Some of the house in the village are former workers accommodation and date back to the middle of the 1800s. https://da.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randb%C3%B8ldal

Muddy terrain. Small paddock with horses shortly after. Sign in Danish, but said not to approach or feed the horses and that they are well cared for.

The Renaissance Engelsholm Castle was built in 1592 with a rectangular floor plan. In the corners there are towers with a square floor plan, which received their onion domes during renovation work in 1730. The castle park was laid out according to the French model. The castle has housed an adult education center since 1940 and is generally not open to the public, but occasionally there are, among other things, classical concerts.

Vejle Å has its source at Engelsholmer Lake near Nørup, from where it first flows south and then flows into Egtved Å not far from Egtvedpigen's grave. From here, Vejle Å runs north-east until it flows into Vejle Fjord in Vejle Harbour. Vejle Ådal is about 20 km long.
