Brændegård Lake is home to one of the largest cormorant colonies in Northern Europe. They arrive from the south in February/March and leave the area in August/September.

The tower is currently (September 2025) closed for safety reasons.

Particularly striking is the Ymer Fountain – a bronze replica of the original by Kai Nielsen – which lends an artistic touch to the square. From Torvet, you have a wonderful view of the famous clock tower, Faaborg's landmark, which shapes the medieval silhouette of the city. The square is also the starting point for several popular hikes, such as to the Faaborg Museum or up to Lerbjerg, the highest point in the region. Whether as a meeting point, a photo opportunity, or a starting point for exploration tours – Torvet is a place where history, culture, and everyday life charmingly merge.

Faaborg's Old Town – a walk through history The old town of Faaborg is a true gem of Southern Denmark – charming, lively, and full of historical details. Cobblestone streets, colorful facades, and winding alleys tell of centuries of urban development. Particularly impressive is the free-standing Klokketårn, a bell tower from the late 15th century, which once belonged to the Sct. Nicolai church and today towers over the city as a landmark. Guided tours through the old town lead past old merchant houses, the market square Torvet, and the Faaborg Museum. From here, you can also spot the surrounding islands such as Bjørnø, Avernakø, and Lyø – a panorama that combines history and nature.
