The church door was closed. But the cemetery around it is a wonder. The tools hang at the entrance on a board. You can see the work in them. Unfortunately, I didn't meet the person, but I respectfully accepted the invitation to visit.

The church was originally built as a fortified church by farmers from Meesig after the Thirty Years' War. It was first documented in 1255 and originally belonged to the Verchen Monastery before being reintegrated into the Verchen parish.

It originally served as the town's central water supply, with the central water supply being completed in 1903. The tower was externally renovated in the mid-1990s and sold by the town of Malchin to a private developer in 2006 to create residential space in the tower.

The church contains three gravestones of members of the old Mecklenburg noble family of Maltzahn. Dating back to 1227, the church is in good condition thanks to restoration in the late 1980s. Among the church's special features are the richly decorated pulpit altar and the Grüneberg organ, built around 1850.
