• The first station (1859): The first Lucerne station was built of wood as the terminus of the Schweizerische Centralbahngesellschaft directly on the lake. The tracks at the time ran along today's Pilatusstrasse. • The second station (1896): Due to growing traffic and the planning of the Gotthard line, a monumental new building was constructed with an impressive glass dome and, from 1907, with the copper figure „Zeitgeist“ by Richard Kissling. • The third station (1991): After a devastating major fire in 1971, in which the old dome and large parts of the building were destroyed, the station was completely rebuilt. Today's Lucerne station was inaugurated on February 5, 1991 – exactly 20 years after the fire.

The route from Weggis to Vitznau has a sidewalk that is also permitted for cyclists. It becomes a bit more problematic in high summer, on weekends and holidays. Then many hikers and walkers are also here on the path. The road is already quite busy, but also depending on the time of day and other factors. Road cyclists have no trouble with it. I moved as much on the road as on the bike path. With a little respect and consideration, it works. For flowing riding, use the road. You just have to decide on the spot. On the bike path, you can stop again and again and enjoy the view 😍.
