January 19, 2026, Bamenohl Run-of-River Power Plant

The Bamenohl run-of-river power plant in Finnentrop, a listed historical monument, operated by Lister und Lennekraftwerke GmbH (LLK), has been an important component of the region's hydroelectric power supply since its commissioning on February 21, 1923. History and Architecture The power plant was built in 1921/1922 in the Art Nouveau style and is located at the southern edge of Bamenohl, near the castle, giving it the appearance of an elegant garden pavilion. The facility includes an intake structure in Neukamp-Grevenbrück and a headrace, approximately two kilometers long, running parallel to the Lenne River. Much of the original technology is preserved and still in operation. In the early 2000s, the power plant had to be temporarily shut down due to defects in the rubble stone wall of the headrace, but it was subsequently renovated and put back into operation.

A very interesting facility that has been reliably producing electricity for a long time. There's seating (a table and benches) at the facility. It's a nice place for a short break.

Now that the city center's renovation is complete, Attendorn is a beautiful little (Hanseatic) town. You should definitely take the time for a coffee in one of the many inviting cafés, especially when the weather's nice.
