Memorial Site Bunker Valentin

Highlight • Historical Site

The bunker Valentin is the ruin of a submarine shipyard of the German navy from the Second World War. From 1943 to 1945, thousands of forced laborers from all over Europe were used here: civilians as well as prisoners of war and concentration camp inmates. More than 1,100 of them died during construction of malnutrition, disease and indiscriminate killings. What remains is the bunker Valentin, a unique and unmissable relic of Nazi armor for the naval war. He is a place of remembrance of the war and of the crimes of the National Socialist rule.
The grounds and the very impressive multimedia information center are open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, except on Mondays and Saturdays.
On public holidays the place of thought is closed.

Elsfleth Harbour and Hunte Riverfront

Highlight (Segment) • Settlement

With about 9,500 inhabitants, Elsfleth is one of the smaller towns, but due to its structure with a strong economy such as shipyard, paper mill, plant construction, shipping and resident shipping companies and a very impressive and powerful agriculture gets a special weight. The location in the immediate vicinity of Oldenburg and Bremen and the location of the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Elsfleth with the Department of Maritime Studies and the facilities on campus are also important. elsfleth.de/index.p

On the Weser dike

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The bike path leads you behind the Weser dyke. The route runs through the countryside and is nice to drive. There are virtually no gradients and on the smooth asphalt the bike rolls almost by itself.

The bridge is lowered every hour on the hour!
The barrier staff can be contacted via an intercom directly on the bridge.
The staff were very friendly and had lowered the bridge earlier!
Great!

Elsfleth is a small, nice town on the Hunte. Fish is sold at the harbor on Sundays. If you want to go to the other side of the Hunte, you have to use the drawbridge about 1km further north. But this only happens on the hour.
