This area is also great for some technical trail running. Plenty of footpaths meander around the hills.

Very helpful staff who kindly refilled our water bottles - also pointed out that on entering the main carpark there is a public tap next to the unit/toilets on the left.

Friendly staff, reasonable prices, very much recommended.

Down under the road tunnel and you've got a split second to decide: will you turn left onto the harder Red Mist or right onto the (relatively) easier Endor? If you choose right, expect tight, nadgery singletrack and roots galore down to the fire road!

Part of the extreme-rated Y Mynydd DH track, there are two options at 'Road Gap': a large drop off the road, or a rocky roll down great slabs into a berm. The choice is yours, but neither look particularly easy!

After winching yourself up the Medart (or hopping on the Cwmdown uplift bus) this is it: the start of the Y Mynydd downhill run. There are two options to begin with as well as further splits down the trail. This is a highly technical, extreme-rated trail that should only be attempted by experienced mountain bikers. As the sign suggests, full face helmets and longer travel bikes (enduro/DH) are highly recommended.

It’d be nice to shoot here at golden hour, a wonderful golden glow would punch through the trees I reckon!
