Hagelberg

Highlight • Summit

Allegedly the highest mountain in Brandenburg until 2000, now there is another one with 50 centimeters more. Here in 1813 the so-called piston battle raged between the French and the Prussians. The Prussians could win. In April, many daffodils bloom on the flat hilltop. The "climb" is no problem!

A former tower of the city wall, outlined by stones in the path, we take a detour through the town's alleys to St. Mary's Church, whose origins date back to the early 13th century. We're surprised to find an organ museum inside, with organs from the last three centuries, the smallest being a table-top portable. A little further on, we cross the market square and visit the tourist information office; there's something to read everywhere in town. The niche portals are striking. We reach the Wiesenburger Bridge again, cross the city moat, and walk parallel to the main street between the trees.

In the rustic ambience of the castle's knight's hall, minstrels play with wit and charm at the knight's meal. Well suited for families or company celebrations, of course you can also book this individually.

The roots of the complex go back to a medieval castle from the 12th century, which was replaced by a new castle after a fire in the 16th century. Over the centuries, this was gradually expanded to its current size. The castle received its Neo-Renaissance appearance during renovation work in the 19th century when it was owned by the von Watzdorf family. Used as a school from 1946 and later as a boarding school, the facility was sold to private investors in 1998. They had the castle buildings extensively renovated by 2003 and converted them into an exclusive residential and office complex. Source: Wikipedia
