The circular hiking trail was conceived by Austrian media artist Wolfgang Georgsdorf and realized in collaboration with the Brandenburg State Forestry Authority, the Hammer Forestry Office. Along the 18-kilometer-long trail, which takes the form of a literary forest walk along the banks of the Dahme River through the forest and heath landscape of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park, reading stations with texts from world literature invite visitors to linger approximately every 300 meters.

Information from the Paul Gebhard Weg: After King Frederick William I acquired the Schenken estates of Teupitz and Buchholz in 1717, the Hammer Forestry Office was established in the center of these estates in 1737 as part of the royal chamber of his son Augustus William. In the 19th century, the young Crown Prince and later Emperor William II frequently came here to hunt. Today, it is a popular tourist destination for the wider area.
