Brotjacklriegel Summit and Observation Tower

Highlight • Summit

The mountain (1,011 meters) is the landmark of this region. More precisely, its wooden observation tower, which houses the "Turm-Stüberl", which invites to a little refreshment. If you want to enjoy the great panorama of the Bavarian-Bohemian Border Ridge, the Passauer Land and the Danube plain as far as the Alps from the tower, there are only two obstacles: 127 steps and a "Ascension" fee of one Euro.

Deggendorf Old Town 🏘️

Highlight • Historical Site

Deggendorf is beautifully situated in the valley of the Danube. Nearby, the Isar flows into the Danube and forms one of the most important floodplain landscapes in Bavaria just outside the city. But the city itself is worth seeing. In the high medieval old town you can admire many historical buildings, while in the cultural quarter all kinds of museums invite to visit.

Unfortunately, the Komoot recording stopped after the bridge. This was the end of the Isar Cycle Path. From there, we used Google Maps to search for a place to stop for a break. This may have been the reason for the interruption. From the bridge, we cycled back along the Danube Cycle Path to the ferry in Niederalteich, where our car was parked (parking lot at the recycling center), thus completing the loop. This was a total of about 40 km. We highly recommend this tour.

The Großer Büchelstein in the municipality of Grattersdorf rises majestically above the Sonnenwald region. With a height of 832 meters, it offers a panoramic view that extends as far as the Alps in clear weather. The summit is a popular starting point for hang gliders and paragliders, who enjoy the thermals and the spectacular views. Hikers can follow well-marked trails through dense forests and over rolling hills that unfold their own charm in every season. Source: https://region-sonnenwald.de/berge/buechelstein?task=ggvz
