Heddesbach, located in the idyllic Laxbach valley, is the smallest independent municipality in the Rhein-Neckar district with around 500 inhabitants. Heddesbach lies between the Hessian towns of Waldmichelbach in the north and Hirschhorn/Neckar in the south, as well as the Baden towns of Brombach (belonging to Eberbach) and Heiligkreuzsteinach in the east and west. In Heddesbach there are several historical buildings that tell something about the history of the place. Several buildings in the old town center that embody the Odenwald house style are listed buildings; for the wealthy Hübner/local citizen the farm in the open square “Scheuermann/Hauptstr. 3” and for the simple resident/day laborer the “stilted single house/Wolfsgrubenweg 5”. Natural monuments include the menhir as the border between Brombach and Heddesbach and the so-called “judge’s chairs” very close by. Since 2004, the impressive oak tree on Herdweg/Harfenburgweg has been listed as the newest natural monument. (geo-naturpark.net>heddesbach)
