The castle park in Bückeburg is truly special to me. You immediately notice that history and nature intertwine perfectly here. The park is huge – over 80 hectares – and extremely well-maintained. Originally a Renaissance garden, it was later laid out in the French style with neat flowerbeds and fountains. Today, it's more like an English landscape park, beautifully natural and spacious. What I particularly liked was the mature trees. There are some truly impressive trees there, such as common beeches and bald cypresses – you don't see the likes of them every day. Another real highlight is the large mausoleum with its golden dome, the largest private one in all of Europe, if I'm not mistaken. If you just want to unwind or take a quiet stroll, this is the perfect place. I can definitely recommend the castle park – not just for the history, but also for the wonderful atmosphere.
