⛵️⚓️Husum Harbour🧭 Life pulsates at the harbour in the North Sea port town of Husum. The picturesque setting invites you to stroll – at low or high tide🌊. Twice a day, the North Sea washes fresh water into the town. The tidal game can be experienced up close and is always fascinating. With crab sandwiches or Friesentorte, in a cosy café or a quaint harbour pub. A detour to the outer harbour, which is characterised by maritime economy - where you can admire crab cutters and merchant ships, is also part of a harbour excursion in Husum🧭⛵️⚓️.

The church originates from a Romanesque fieldstone building dating back to the Middle Ages, remnants of this structure are still visible. Its current exterior appearance was significantly shaped in the 19th century, with notable work carried out in 1862 and a major redesign in 1889, during which fieldstone with brick details (e.g., the portal/gable) defines the building's form. Its location in the Treene Valley and its rich interior furnishings (including a significant carved altarpiece) make the ensemble particularly worth seeing.

During the construction of the Kiel Canal (NOK), a connection between the Kiel Canal and the Eider River was created in Rendsburg. However, because the lock increasingly hindered road traffic in Rendsburg, an alternative lock was built further west in 1937: The Gieselau Lock. Since then, this lock has connected the Eider River with the Kiel Canal in the Gieselau Valley, south of Prinzenmoor. The Gieselau Canal is only navigable during the summer months.
