This is the story of a young Australian (Peter Knox) who volunteered for the RAF in 1941. During a bombing raid on Germany on June 21-22, 1944, his Lancaster was shot down. Thanks to the coolness and courage of many people in the Kempen region, he was able to remain in hiding for months and escape the probing enemy. On September 3, 2006, a monument was unveiled in the woods of Mol-Postel in memory of the crew members and all the known and unknown heroes in the Kempen region and elsewhere, who all risked their lives for the ultimate goal: the liberation of our country, which had been suffering under German occupation since May 1940.

The Norbertines no longer stir the pots here, but the enthusiastic staff are happy to let you sample the brown manna (heavenly bread) and fragrant cheeses. Fancy something different?
