A beautiful hike. I started from Gouves, first just walked along the road. Flat with a good pace towards the gorge. After I was under the 2 highway bridges, the gorge began. It is a (long since) dried-up riverbed with large rock formations interspersed with pebbles. The first 1.5 kilometers are mainly scrambling. Quite challenging, but very fun. Then a hiking trail begins. This continues nicely for 2 kilometers to the end (or beginning) of the gorge, Then you are out, but there is still a serious climb of almost 2 kilometers with an average gradient of 12%. That hurts! Then a beautiful 5-kilometer descent on the road to Gouves. Finished at the little church in Gouves with a delicious Greek coffee.

The dry riverbed is the path. Getting lost is impossible. Occasional scrambling is unavoidable. Go with children only if they are real mountain goats. I started at 07:00 at the bridge of the EO90, walked a lot in the shade. Carpenter bees, alpine swifts, ravens and cicadas accompany you and if you look you will find the griffon vulture. It is so quiet that you hear the wingbeats of the ravens.

Many small bays, could be clean, a shame

Entrance to the Aposelemi Gorge. You can leave your car under the highway bridge or park just before the gate. The path then begins clearly at the dried-up riverbed.
