The conservation work was completed in 2024 and now the castle looks superb. Really recommend as very intact 12c building. Lovely town too and good walks in the area.

The windmill is situated on the heath next to the Thorpeness Meare and the "House in the Clouds". It is a prominent landmark that can be easily viewed from various walking trails in the area, such as the path from Aldeburgh.

The front looks towards the harbour and moored cruisers but with a car park in-between. The best views are from the garden to the rear, which looks across the marshes towards Southwold rising beyond.
