June 2, 2025, Viewpoint for Burney Falls

This is an easy, early viewpoint for seeing 129-foot Burney Falls. If you're up for more of a hike, you can get a closer view.

If you hike along the PCT you will have to cross this impressive dam. The views climbing down to it are amazing.

The one way trip to the spring is a quarter mile down an unmaintainted dirt road. If you are not completely out of water, continue for 2.5 miles (northbound) to a campground with a spigot that provides potable water.

This is a true hidden gem so close to the popular Burney Falls. Get closer and take a look at crystal clear Burney Creek before it cascades as the impressive falls.

This is where Burney Creek starts to flow above the ground. There might be herons around that try to catch some fish.

If you arrive here with a car, you have to pay 10 Dollars as entrance fee. Hikers can walk in for free. Burney Falls is a side Trip that is so worth the short walk, especially on a hot summer day. There is also a general store with snacks and ice cream, restrooms, drinking fountains and a visitor center with WiFi. If you can, avoid the crowds around the weekends.

The resupply options at the general store are limited to snacks like potato chips and bars which are also quite expensive. Definitely not recommended for a full resupply. However you can treat yourself with some soft serve, a sandwich, hot dog or corn dog. There is no WiFi at the general store, just next to the visitor center.

If you are out of water, follow the Headwaters Trail to get to the nicely flowing Burney Creek. It is even the more scenic option compared to the PCT at this point.
