The Knieperteich is 24.8 hectares in size and up to two meters deep. On the northern Knieperteich, tourist use with rowing boats is permitted. A fountain is installed in the southern Knieperteich. The Küterdamm divides the Knieperteich and connects the city areas Altstadt (at Kütertor) and Tribseer. The "White Bridges", two wooden bridges, allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross.
