I did exactly what Dirk described. I took the train from Jena to Camburg and then cycled along the Zuckerbahn cycle path. After a slight climb, the path becomes very flat and has many crossings over more or less busy roads. Of course, there are also many bridges. Orientation was sometimes difficult, but my intuition helped. Zeitz is very beautiful, but finding the Elster cycle path to Gera from there isn't easy. Still doable. 😁 Highly recommended.

There are some good, covered rest areas along the Zuckerbahn cycle path, and good asphalt. You're away from traffic. Otherwise, it's a typical railway cycle path…straight ahead and no view. Trees and bushes on the left and right. Practical. 😅

We passed by there on our ✅🚲 tours through the Elsterauen and took advantage of the autumnal sunrays in the beer garden, which is still open, to have a rest and a great meal... 🚲Greetings from the Wetterau... Simone & Michael🙋🏻🙋♂️
