A small pass on the V81 route, which is used by many people as a starting point for hikes. Coming from the west towards the Mediterranean, it is easily accessible via moderately steep switchbacks. However, we experienced strong easterly winds, which made the journey quite strenuous.

Here you can bathe in pools with warm water on the edge of the river. You have to walk from the town of Rennes-les-Bains.

We experienced this place on a Sunday evening, quite deserted. No open restaurants. Most looked abandoned altogether. The church of St. Pierre was also closed and the Chapitre (formerly abbey or collegiate church) was hidden in a construction site and inaccessible. Luckily, we had bought groceries in Esperaza at the market for dinner in the apartment.

A place that has probably seen better times. Here there are warm freshwater springs and saltwater springs. You can bathe in both. Even the Romans knew how to appreciate this place.

This gorge with the hermitage always amazes you! Cycling downhill towards the East/Mediterranean allowed us to enjoy the gorge.

We reach this small pass at 588m from Puivert on a moderate climb. The landscape is slowly becoming Mediterranean. Now there is a sign for this pass. We stop here for a midday break on the brown meadow.
