This area is named after a 150+ year old mystery. Mathias Fege and Jacob Schroeder, ran a small farm & orchard here in the 1860s, but one day the pair were found shot dead. We'll never know what happened to the men, but there is more to see here than an old crime scene. The trail itself climbs the hillside and has great views across Washoe Lake to the Sierra Nevada mountains on the opposite side of the valley.

This viewpoint is accessed via a short, but steep trail. You'll be sweating and breathing deep when your reach the overlook but the views across Washoe Valley to the Sierra Nevada mountains are amazing. Jogging up here is a quick out and back, but if you have time you can turn it in to a longer loop run.

Great little walk to do with the family. There's a playground, restrooms, and picnic areas. The loop is easy and during migration season you can see dozens of different bird species making their way north or south. Sunsets can be incredible too.

Sparks Marina is an all around family park. The trail is flat and paved so nearly everyone can walk around the lake. You'll also find multiple picnic areas, beaches, and playgrounds. Additionally the water is fed 2-3 million gallons of fresh water daily through an underground aquifer and is safe for swimming, paddle boarding, scuba diving, and fishing.

A relatively steep and challenging ascent before you get to this point as you ascend over 400 feet in elevation. However, the rewarding panoramic views of the Reno area make the effort well worth it.

This hike is about 1.5 miles round trip and can easily be done twice for added mileage. There is one steeper section and the trail can be windy, but it's completely doable with the right outfit and a positive attitude!
