Easy hikes and walks around Area F (McConnell Creek/Hatzic Prairie)

Heritage Mountain is the elevated hillside within Fraser River Heritage Park overlooking the Fraser River Valley. There is a network of trails that climb through forest and open parkland to breathtaking viewpoints with sweeping vistas toward the Fraser River and Mount Baker. It’s one of the best places in Mission to enjoy the area’s scenery without venturing too far from town.

East Mission Heritage Greenway is an easy, flat, paved multi-use route that connects Fraser River Heritage Park with the surrounding neighbourhoods. It follows a mix of paved pathways and quiet streets, making it a lovely path to walk or ride through beautiful green spaces, with occasional views across the Fraser Valley. It’s also a convenient way to explore the eastern side of Mission, as it links to several other routes in the park’s wider trail network.

Fraser River Heritage Park is the largest park in Mission, situated on a hillside overlooking the Fraser River Valley, and is a fantastic spot with some of the best views in the region. There are walking trails that wind through open lawns, mature trees, heritage gardens, and historic sites, including the restored Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and the foundations of the former St. Mary’s Mission buildings. It’s a peaceful place to enjoy beautiful panoramic views while reflecting on the area's rich and complex history.

Cascade Falls plunges roughly 30 metres through a narrow rocky gorge, and is the main attraction of the park. Fed by Cascade Creek, the waterfall crashes through a steep canyon before continuing into a series of smaller cascades and calm lower pools downstream. The combination of mossy cliffs, dense forest, and powerful water flow is what gives these beautiful falls a distinct Pacific Northwest feel.

Tucked into a forested valley northeast of Mission, Cascade Falls Regional Park protects a scenic section of Cascade Creek centred around a picturesque waterfall and suspension bridge. A short but stair-filled trail winds through dense conifer forest to viewpoints overlooking the gorge, with a picnic area and toilets near the trailhead. Despite its relatively small size, the park feels surprisingly rugged, with steep rock walls, rushing water, and several smaller cascades below the main falls.

Spanning Cascade Creek high above the gorge, this suspension bridge offers the park’s best view of the waterfall and surrounding canyon. Looking downstream from the bridge, you can also see a unique natural rock arch carved into the cliff beside the creek, where rushing water has eroded an opening beneath the rock over time, creating one of the area’s lesser-known geological features. The bridge might sway gently under your feet, but it provides an impressive vantage point into the forested ravine below.

Silverdale Creek supports trout and Pacific salmon species, including coho, chum, pink, and chinook. The wetlands around the creek are especially important for juvenile salmon. This area is protected and full of aquatic, mammalian, and amphibian life.
