July 16, 2026, West Highlands Park

West Highlands Park is one of Kamloops' largest neighbourhood parks, covering more than 70 hectares of open grassland, ponds, and natural areas in Aberdeen. Designed as a community hub, the park also features playgrounds, sports courts, fitness equipment, picnic areas, and an off-leash dog park, all connected by a network of paved pathways. Its elevated position provides sweeping views over the Thompson Valley, making it a popular destination for both recreation and relaxing outdoors.

Originally part of the Aberdeen Hills Golf Links, the West Highlands Trail now follows the former fairways through West Highlands Park. The paved loop passes open grassland and small ponds, with expansive views across the Thompson Valley and surrounding hills. Benches and solar lighting make the trail accessible throughout the day, and when snowfall allows, part of the route is groomed for cross-country skiing in winter.
