November 23, 2023, Glacier Way Trail & Bergschurund Trail (junction)

Bergschrund Trail Junction, where Bergschrund Trail descends southeast from Glacier Way to Powerline Trail. Further down lies Freeway I-80, which may make the ride not-so-peaceful the closer you get.

Great place to stop for a cool down swim and if you want a fun history lesson look up the lake's namesake. Miss Lola Montez lead and incredibly interesting life!

August 5, 2020, Flora Lake

This is a well-travelled route that can be accessed from either end, Donner Pass Summit in the South or at the Donner Summit rest stop in the North. Two of the lakes can be swam in and the loop covers a segment of the historic Pacific Crest Trail that connects Mexico to Canada. For specific route: https://www.komoot.com/tour/231906257?ref=wtd

Bergschrund Trail drops south-east off Glacier Way, heading down to Powerline Trail. Further down is the Freeway I-80, but not really a good way to cross except further west at Donner Pass, or east at Dinner to get down to Donner Lake

Donner Ridge has several summits, ranging on the crest around Donner Lake. Glacier Way is an easily accessible trailhead next to Alpine Meadows Resort. Continuing on to the next high point on Donner Ridge a trail down to Negro Canyon can be made into a loop back up to this location.
