Descent near Mislinja on the Štrekna Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

If you climb the Štrekna bike path from the south, you have managed to climb a small slope. From now on, a wonderfully relaxed tour awaits you, which mostly goes slightly downhill. After all, it's almost a 300-meter drop in altitude to the finish in Dravograd.

Picturesque forests and expansive meadows with the best views are the backdrop for this beautiful trail park near the Slovenian town of Prevalje, very close to the border with Austria. Here are about 21 kilometers of marked trails waiting for you and your enduro bike, spread over nine different routes. You can combine as you wish and have the choice between relaxed flowtrails and technical challenges.

All trails are connected by a kind of "shuttle way", over which you come quickly and reasonably relaxed up again and again to the summit. Apropos: Overall, there is a difference in altitude of 515 meters, so you can let it crash downhill well.

The trail park is perfect for getting to know the fantastic area here. A nice warm-up program, so to speak, before you dare to go on longer trips. Because there are plenty of cool trails outside of the park. For example, one of the longest flow trails in Europe awaits you on the neighboring Mount Peca!

This area has another advantage: the sun shines quite often here. Thanks to the favorable climatic situation, the season starts in April and extends to the first snow in November. By the way, you can also rent a bike here and there are guided tours offered.

Here's a little taste:

Lovrenc Lakes on Pohorje

Highlight • Lake

Hikers going to the Lovrenc lakes will be rewarded with rich nature: the beautiful lakes (peat bogs) are waiting for you to visit one of the most beautiful natural sights on Pohorje. The lakes will be counted from 11 to 22, depending on the current quantity of the waters there. They are deep up to 1.5 m. The peat layer extends up to 290 cm deep. Most of the surface is covered with ruševje, during which some wooden lakes will take you to wooden bridges. The path is not tiring and if you choose as a starting point the parking lot at the cottage on Pesek (Rogla) you will need approx. 1 hour. Wonderful.

The Grmovšek Hut (Slovene: Grmovškov dom pod Veliko Kopo) is a mountain hut below the Veliko Kopa at an altitude of 1,377 metres. The hut was built in 1937 and quickly became a popular stop for outdoor sports enthusiasts. In 1942 it burned down, in 1947 it was rebuilt – and unfortunately burned down again in the same year. The third hut was inaugurated in 1954 and named after Miloš Grmovšek, the then president of the Slovenj Gradec Hiking Association (PD Slovenj Gradec).

The hut is a great stop on your hike with everything you need after a long day of hiking.

Ribniška Koča (1507 m)

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Ribniška koča stands on a small plateau just below Mali Črni vrh (1533 m) in the main Pohorje ridge. The predecessor of today's hut was built on the nearby Ribniški sedlo by the Maribor branch of the SPD and opened on July 10, 1932; in thanks to dr. Davorin Senjor (1882-1960), the president of the branch, who was the driving force in the construction, named the outpost "Senjorjev dom. Fighters of the 1st Pohorje Battalion burned the home on October 9, 1942. PD Maribor-matica built a new Ribniška koča hut on the fire site the former Hutter's villas, which began operating in 1946 and were opened on 29 November 1949. In 1971, PD Maribor-matica ceded the PD Radlje ob Dravi hut, which was unable to renovate such a demanding building, so the hut was closed in 1973. Ribniška koča took over the then newly established PD Sladki Vrh in 1976. With the help of donors and a lot of voluntary work of mountaineers members of PD Sladki Vrh, the hut was completely renovated and reopened in 1978. Due to the beautiful building and beautiful view, the hut took the name "Queen of Pohorje mountain lodges".

View:
From the hut there is a beautiful view of the nearby Jezerski vrh, where there is a monument to fallen fighters-mountaineers, and further east to the ridge of Pohorje and part of the Drava valley with Maribor; on the western side, the highest Pohorje peaks, Črni vrh and Velika Kopa, rise nearby; on the northern side of Pohorje we can see Ribnica na Pohorju, Janževski vrh and Rdeči breg, part of the Drava valley with Radlje ob Dravi and almost the entire Kozjak mountain range. From Mali Črni vrh we can see Mislinjska dolina, Graška gora, Paški Kozjak, Posavsko hribovje in the south, and Savinjske Alpe, Uršlja gora, Peca, Obir, Svinška planina and Golica to the west and northwest.

Naravske Ledine Mountain Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The hut stands on a meadow on the west side of Uršlje gora, along the road that leads from the Raven to Carinthia and leads to Križan, Slovenj Gradec and to Uršlja gora. The building was set up by a mezzanine mine near the former mining site. The mine was relocated to the building by PD Ravne in Carinthia, which was transformed into a mountaineering station and built a depandance beside it; mountain shelter opened on May 24, 1964. In 1978, the cottage was adapted and enlarged, and in 1986 they installed the telephone. In 1990, they installed central heating and installed a water supply system.

A wide selection of cycling tours. Our own single trail park. Bike shuttle transport service. Specialized bike rentals. Trained cycling guides. Learning cycling skills. Cycling camps and events. Our bike hotel is located on a hill with breathtaking views, the perfect place to start your morning cycling in a relaxed manner. Do you have to climb back up the hill at the end of your tour? Of course not! We offer free pick-up from several locations in the valley. So you don't have to climb up to us unless you really want to. The Church of St. Pancras, which belongs to the parish of Remšnik, stands at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level, at the end of the Radelce ridge right next to the border with Austria. It was first mentioned in 1490, and after being destroyed during the Turkish invasions in 1532, it was rebuilt around 1655. For centuries, it was a popular pilgrimage and excursion point due to its location and observation tower, from which a view opens towards Austria, Kapla, Duh na Ostre Vrh, Brezni Vrh and Remšnik. After the First World War, the border between the Kingdom of SHS and Austria ran right through the middle of the church, until, according to an agreement in 1966, it was entirely on the Slovenian side. During the time of Yugoslavia, it suffered severe damage – it was used as a stable and the interior was damaged – but it was restored between 1962 and 1966. The church consists of a rectangular nave, a presbytery, a sacristy and a separate bell tower with a viewing platform, which is closed in winter. Masses are held only a few times a year, usually bilingual, as many believers also come from Austria. Of particular importance are Pancras Sunday in May, Pentecost Monday, the feast of St. Aleš in July and "Beautiful Sunday" in mid-September. Saint Pancras, who is often depicted as a young man with a martyr's crown and a sword or palm, is the patron saint of early Christians, an intercessor against false testimony, headaches and cramps, and one of the fourteen intercessors in emergencies.
