Welcome to one of the safest and most beautiful beaches on the Wild Atlantic Way. This golden sandy beach is protected from the full force of the ocean by the Duggerna Reef, giving the bay an almost Mediterranean character on sunny days. From the tide line, look up at the characteristic Victorian facades along the promenade or gaze out to the horizon where the cliffs of George’s Head guard the bay. Whether you are resting in the sand or preparing for the transition to the rugged cliff paths, this is the beating heart of Kilkee.

Powerful Atlantic surf that pounds relentlessly against the dark coastal rocks. The coastline here is open, rough, and exposed, with foaming waves crashing high against the cliff edges. The view is broad and dynamic: a place where the sea visibly shows its power and the landscape takes on a pronounced, rugged character — a striking moment on the route along Loop Head.

And yet... I discovered another arch further on, but not yet exploited for tourism.

This tranquil spot houses the foundations of a very old early Christian church (Cill Rois), surrounded by a historic graveyard. Here you will find, among other things, the striking mausolea of the Vandeleur family, the region's former landed gentry. The graveyard is also a poignant monument to the Great Famine; countless anonymous victims lie buried here in mass graves. The nearby former St. Senan’s Church of Ireland (now Teach Cheoil) from 1813, with its characteristic tower, forms a striking landmark in this rich heritage landscape.

Quietly leave the Klippenweg along the top and climb down onto the rock terraces... great views and rock formations down here into the foaming sea. Climb around, sit down, let it sink in, take photos... pure nature!

The detour from the scenic Klippenweg down to the stone steps directly by the sea is worth it... extraordinary rock formations!

Follow the coastal path (approx. 15-20 min. walk) for the best view. An absolute must-see on the Loop Head peninsula! Although the name 'Bridges' suggests there are more than one, the brute force of the Atlantic Ocean has left only one natural arch. This impressive limestone formation is a beautiful example of how erosion shapes the Irish landscape. The bridge is not visible from the car park.

A fabulous beach for relaxing walks, with views out over the Atlantic. The sunsets can be absolutely sublime. Ideal for surfers too, looking for more challenging terrain, but strong rips are common, so swimming isn't advised.
