Amazing views across the lake to the castle and the Vallymount Road bridge. Blessington Lakes is officially known as Poulaphouca Reservoir, and it's only one lake. Construction of the dam began in 1937 and by the time it was completed, and the valley flooded, it became the largest man-made lake in Ireland. It supplies water to Dublin and the water is used to power a hydroelectric power plant.

Molloy Walk is named after Joe Molloy, who was a local historian and farmer. He was involved in the first planting of the forest (Rath Wood) more than half a century ago. Naming the walk after him was a way of honouring his connection and contribution to the history and development of the woodland.
