The first chapel was built in a different place (more to the west of the current one) in 1837 to commemorate the wooden church of St. Helena built centuries ago on Mount Chełm by the Cistercians from Koprzywnica or the Benedictines from Tyniec. After World War II, due to the quarry operating nearby, the chapel was moved to its current location.

January 4, 2024 At the end of December last year The city of Dębica signed a notarial agreement to purchase the real estate of the former New Town synagogue at Krakowska Street. Based on the contract, the city government purchased the historic property for PLN 380,000. The synagogue at 3 Krakowska Street in Dębica was built in the 18th century, on the site of an old synagogue that was destroyed. The building was decorated in late Baroque style. The interior is divided into nine fields by polygonal pillars. After numerous reconstructions and renovations, the original stylistic features were blurred. The building is one of the most valuable monuments of Dębica (...) Due to the urgent need to protect the popular synagogue, the city plans to thoroughly renovate the facility, which will ultimately serve Dębica's cultural institutions. The renovation of the monument will also improve the aesthetics of the city center, and its availability will expand the cultural and tourist offer of Dębica. The chapel on Mount Chełm is located in the picturesque surroundings of the reserve. The perfect place to relax. Although it is no longer the destination of as many pilgrimages as before, the faithful still come here to write requests in the book of requests, and a mass is held in May.
