The church was built in 1885 on the site of an older church, dating back to the times of the Templars. The steadily deteriorating condition of the old church prompted its demolition and the construction of a new one. In 1845, its tower collapsed, prompting the decision to demolish it. The project was completed in 1852.

The two things that a Kienitzer always has to carry with him are "a rope and a cheese sandwich, because with them he can get through the whole world!" While the cheese bread is still understandable, things are a little different with the rope: when trying to bring a golden doe home using a rope (which unfortunately you didn't have with you), you forgot to hold on to the doe and it slipped away amazed farmers. The above-mentioned orders were then issued by the village mayor in connection with a harsh punitive sermon, as the village's happiness had been lost. The story can be found at: http://www.kienitz-du.de/strickbauer.html

The Marina Kienitz and the inn "Am Hafen" are located directly on the Oder-Neisse cycle path, dike kilometer 39.4. The Kienitz harbor is directly in front of the inn. An associated camping pitch offers overnight accommodation for campers, caravans and mobile homes. The restaurant (closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays) offers tasty food at fair prices.
