Constructed between 1852 and 1857 this is the middle of the three reservoirs in the valley. There are nice footpaths all around the reservoir and further up the valley.

Top lock amazed me how much it takes the narrow boats to get through. I can imagine it's a very hard thing to do, especially if you have 90 of them to pass

This is the bridge over the overflow channel at the southern end of the reservoir. The whole road along this section is built on the embankment created to fill the reservoir. Knowsley Lane crosses the bridge and embankment. When walking a loop of the reservoir you are likely to cross here, there are great views north over the reservoir and south over Upper Rivington Reservoir.
