August 23, 2023, St. Dionysius-Kirche Steimbke

The hall church was built in the first half of the 13th century. It was given a baroque makeover between 1727 and 1729, as can be seen from the chronogram on the portal in the north. The rectangular church tower made of rubble stone in the west is secured by a mighty buttress. It is covered with an eight-sided pointed slate-covered helmet. The nave made of plastered field stones with interspersed bricks, which is covered with a gable roof made of roof tiles, has segmental arched windows on the south side. There is an oxeye window above each of the two windows on the east side. The interior is covered with a segmental barrel vault. The ground floor of the tower, which is opened to the nave with a round arch, has a groin vault. The wooden galleries are in the west and north. St. Dionysii (Steimbke) The Evangelical Lutheran church of St. Dionysii, which is a listed building, is located in the church cemetery of the municipality of Steimbke in the Nienburg/Weser district in Lower Saxony. The parish belongs to the Nienburg church district in the Hanover district of the Evangelical Lutheran State Church of Hanover. The church furnishings include a two-story altarpiece from the first half of the 18th century, which is framed by columns. The Last Supper and the Crucifixion are depicted on it. The baptismal font is from 1730. The parapet of the pulpit from the first half of the 17th century is decorated with fittings and has pictures of Christ and the four evangelists, which are framed in aedicules. December 27, 2022, Blinder See

Unfortunately, when I visited in December 2022, there was no more water in the lake. Like so many other forest lakes, it has dried up.

No one knows how old the Steimbker church is. Just because of the striking hill on which it rises, one can assume a rather old church location. Already in the oldest document, which is certainly attributed to Steimbke (September 23, 1310), a church is mentioned; The tower could in parts still come from this building. The rest of today's church is much younger: at Christmas, 1725, a massive storm threw the spire on the nave and destroyed it. The new construction of the ship was consecrated in 1729. At that time, the church was also equipped with a baroque pulpit altar, which was removed in a major renovation in 1960. Source (www.nienburg-online.de)
