An open barbecue hut is available next to a massive building. On a lounger you can let your gaze wander over the fields on the Dichtelbach. There is a large parking lot for hikers right next to the grill hut.

The Grundlos-Wiese is part of the nature reserve Wiesen am Hirtenborn. The largest part was formerly used as a MOB base for the German Armed Forces, but the base buildings were completely removed and the site was to be naturalised. In the mid-2000s, however, an energy farm was set up on the site. Tree trunks were processed into wood chips and stored in halls and in open spaces. Such commercial use is prohibited under the nature reserve ordinance. However, the cessation of operations ordered by the public prosecutor was not followed for several years. Currently (2/2022) the site is still fenced in and the traffic routes and foundations are still in place. Only the southern part of the Grundlos meadow is undeveloped and is used for hunting.

An unnamed tributary of the Dichtelbach is dammed up as an extinguishing pond in the Dichtelbach Forest. At the pond, a bench with a footrest and rubbish bin offers a place to rest. On a small island stands a small duck house.

I really hope that the Emmerichshütte will open again soon. Good gastronomy, fair prices and the center of many beautiful hiking trails.
