The Church of San Pietro is located in the town of San Pietro, 5 km from the municipality of Ozzano dell'Emilia. It is part of a village of medieval origin, structured on an isolated acrochore, the first relief on the plain corresponding to the Via Emilia, in the hamlet of Maggio. Of ancient origins, it became a parish church, inheriting the font of the Pieve di Pastino. In medieval times, in this small village on the first hills of Ozzano there stood a castle built to defend the Via Emilia and the surrounding territory, dating back to at least 1099 and rebuilt in 1175. Today, part of the ancient walls and the tower remain as evidence of this past. recently restored, which over the centuries has become the symbolic building of Ozzano dell'Emilia, to the point of even appearing in the municipal coat of arms. Inside the picturesque village there is a traditional tavern of the same name and the ancient church of San Pietro.

Not far from the church of San Pietro di Ozzano there is this archaeological excavation from which two late sixteenth-century fountains were recovered, known as Fontane delle Armi or Dell'Armi, from the name of the noble Bolognese family who had their country residence here.
