It's decision time! If you're section-hiking the Bruce Trail, you'll want to continue either west or north. In the latter case, the trail crosses 4th Line EHS and continues onward. Or, you can turn south or west, depending on which of those two directions you're coming from, to turn your hike into a loop.

This section of the roughly 900 km Bruce Trail overlaps with the Griffith Ravine Side Trail, which is named for the family who once owned this parcel of land. If you're traveling west to east, the trail first descends down to the creek, then climbs back up out of the valley on a relatively short, steep hill.

April 14, 2026, Honey Palgrave Pond

The forest breaks, and in the middle of a beautiful meadow sits the Honey Palgrave Pond, sometimes also called the Humphrey Palgrave Pond. The pond changes with the seasons; in winter it will ice over, while in summer and spring the water is moss-covered and dotted with lily pads.

The Palgrave Trail, also known as the Oak Ridges Trail, is well-marked and easy to follow, looping twice through the Palgrave Forest and Wildlife Area. This trail follows rolling hills and is shared by hikers and mountain bikers, so be aware and watch your footing in the thick forests, as roots can be a tripping hazard.
