Lopausee is exclusively a nature reserve and serves for local recreation. The water quality is excellent, and fishing and swimming in the lake are recommended. For swimming, there is a separate bathing beach and a pontoon in the lake. The numerous visitors can circle the lake on an approximately 2.0 km long footpath and cycle path. On the shore, there is a restaurant with an outdoor terrace and a pedal boat rental. In Lopaupark by the lake, there is a great children's playground and plenty of space to romp around. Every year for the traditional heather blossom festival, the lake is the grand stage for a fantastic laser show to open the festival. Picture gallery

A colorful spring that is well worth a detour from the actual hiking route.

A lovely route, also suitable for walking. It's also good for older people, as the paths always lead back parallel to each other. I particularly like the small side paths leading down to the Ilmenau river.
