Easy hikes and walks around St. Corona am Wechsel

Even when it's busy, in St. Wolfgang people take the time for a "little chat". The cooking and baking are absolutely wonderful, and the prompt and friendly service also leaves nothing to be desired. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Just a few meters from the Wexl Arena St. Corona am Wechsel, the Ofnerhof has become a popular meeting place for mountain bikers – including a service area and bicycle storage. But the Ofnerhof is much more than just a cycling accommodation. As an organic farm with cows, chickens, pygmy goats, and cats, it's also a true paradise for children. The Gruber family looks after the well-being of their guests and is happy to share a few tour tips from the region. THE highlight for mountain bikers is just a few minutes' bike ride away: The Wexl Trails offer a carpet of roots, a field of stones, and steep steps. You can also cycle to the Hochwechsel and explore the vast meadows of the Schwaigen. The Feistritztal cycle path is perfect for a family outing. The parish church in Kirchberg is a massive yet simple Baroque building. Its magnificent interior is worth a look. The high altar was not originally built for the church, but was purchased from the abandoned Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) in Baden in 1790. Worth seeing are the altarpiece depicting St. James the Greater preaching in a boat, the side altars, and a late Gothic Pietà.

The church on the Lienberg in its present form was donated around 1400 by the Kirchberg nobleman Ortolph von Ofenpeck. On the initiative of Pastor Schober, the "Friends of St. Wolfgang's Church" association was founded in 1971. Since then, it has strived to renovate and preserve St. Wolfgang's Church with the help of donations and membership fees.

In 1991, Peter Pichler fulfilled a long-held dream. Under the expert guidance of Ernst Rössler, the current, fully functioning "adventure mill" was built from old mills in the area. Most of the original components were retained. Mr. Rössler rebuilt the mill wheel. In the mill, rye is still ground into flour using water power, just as in the old days, and once a week, Peter Sr. bakes sourdough bread in the old stone oven. Our guests are welcome to view the mill's workings and the old tools.

The cycle path leads directly through the beer garden where service is always available when the weather is nice. So it's an ideal place for a break 🚴‍♂️☕🍰😊👍

The Gasthof St. Wolfgang is the ideal starting point for cyclists who appreciate nature and regional hospitality. Located directly on the Feistritztal cycle path, the gentle rushing of the Feistritz River provides a relaxing environment. If you're looking to express yourself creatively, you can try woodturning, felting, or trout fishing. Baking and herb courses are also offered.
