Many people from Ueckermünde still know him as a Ueckermünde original: Walter Schultz, whom everyone called Fidel-Schultz. The small, lively Ueckermünde native went from bar to bar with his accordion, performed at family celebrations and was no stranger to sadness. With his nasal voice, he sang songs that went with the water and always had a wide audience. In the city of Ueckermünde's anniversary year, a bronze sculpture of Fidel-Schultz was inaugurated on November 26, 2010 at the Old Bollwerk in front of the new tourist information center. The artist Christian Paschold, who lives near Erfurt, made this figure as a result of an invitation competition organized by the city. Walter Schultz's widow, her daughter and granddaughter were present at the ceremonial unveiling of the bronze figure and were very pleased with the successful work. Since then, Fidel has greeted arriving sailors and passers-by on the Uecker promenade and has probably been immortalized in hundreds of holiday photos. Ueckermünde.de

The Ucker rises in the far north of the Ringenwalde district of the Temmen-Ringenwalde municipality at a height of just over 57 meters above sea level and flows east before turning north after 1.5 km and flowing into the Grosser Krinertsee after a few hundred meters. From there it flows through two smaller lakes (Mühlensee and Behrendsee) to Stegelitz and from there into the Oberuckersee. The connection from this through the Möllensee to the Unteruckersee has a height difference of just 10 cm, is canalized (Uckerkanal) and navigable. It leaves the Unteruckersee at its northern end near Prenzlau. About halfway down the Szczecin Lagoon, the Ucker reaches Western Pomerania near Nieden and now turns as the Uecker to Pasewalk. Between Pasewalk and the mouth, the Uecker was dammed in the middle of the 19th century. Passing Torgelow and Eggesin (where the Randow flows into it on the right), the river continues to Ueckermünde and flows into the western part of the Szczecin Lagoon (Oder Lagoon) called Kleines Haff in this easternmost German port city, which is connected to the Baltic Sea. The church is an elongated plastered building with a southern and northern porch, which was consecrated in 1766. In 1866, a neo-Gothic, richly structured west tower made of brick was added. The spacious interior has double galleries to the north and south and is completed by a cove ceiling from the time of construction, which is painted with ornaments and putti and was renewed in 1891 by the Oscar Foneweit workshop. A restoration took place in 2006-2008. Source https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steintor_(Anklam)
