In 1900, a 1.7 km long branch line from Rustow (Berlin Northern Railway) to Loitz was built by the Toitz-Rustow-Loitz (KTRL) narrow-gauge railway. The line carried a high volume of passengers and freight until the 1950s. Local residents affectionately called the line Korl Loitz. After the establishment of direct bus lines to Demmin and Greifswald, the line's importance for passenger transport declined significantly, so that it was discontinued in 1969. After 1989, freight traffic also declined. The line was closed and dismantled by 2006.
