Fitz was really nice. If we hadn't already been so tired, we could have taken a break here. The cobblestone path is tough, but you can drive along the side and don't necessarily have to step onto the pavement. Pedestrians should then be avoided. The old brick houses are beautiful!

Fitzen is a small, romantic village near Büchen. When you drive through here you think that time has stood still. A lot of things here are the same as they used to be. Fitzen's quiet location east of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal and the green Feldmark invite you to go for walks and bike rides. The village center is visually characterized by a beautiful avenue of linden trees that lines an old cobblestone street. The "Möller" restaurant in the middle of the village is a cozy meeting place not only for locals, where, for example, the harvest festival has been celebrated in the hall for decades. The originally Slavic village Fitzen was first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register from 1230 with the name "Vitsin", which meant "place of the powerful". However, there is an opinion that the village is much older. According to this, settlers from the Büchener Burg built their homesteads near today's "Zur Fähre" inn, which still belongs to Fitzen. The original Vitsin was finally destroyed at the latest in the Thirty Years' War. Only after the end of this war was the village rebuilt in its current location as a circular village. In 1751 the entire village was again destroyed by fire. Fitzen includes the weekend areas Heidebrook and Waldweiher. The Siebeneichen ferry runs between Fitzen and Siebeneichen. This historic cable ferry is the only ferry across the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitzen https://www.amt-buechen.eu/index.phtml?sNavID=1781.34&La=1
