The Church of San Vicente is located in the Old Town of San Sebastián and is considered the oldest in the city. It was built in the early 16th century in the Basque Gothic style under the command of the quarry masters Miguel de Santa Celay and Juan de Urrutia. The building has a rectangular plan and a nave and two aisles. Its rose windows and pointed arches are amazing and attract the attention of those who visit the old part. The interior is sober, but amazing, and conveys a sense of tranquility. Among its gems, we would like to mention the altarpiece of the presbytery, made by the sculptor Ambrosio de Bengoechea. Neoclassical square in the heart of Bilbao's Old Town (Casco Viejo). • The square was laid out in 1821 and completed in 1851. • It is surrounded by arcades and columns, beneath which are numerous pintxos bars and restaurants. • Plaza Nueva is a popular meeting place and considered the heart of the old town. • A flea market takes place in the square on Sundays.

Definitely a highlight, but unfortunately, the castle was covered in scaffolding when I visited. The castle dates back to the Middle Ages but was later almost completely rebuilt.

To the right of the bridge leading to the new city of Bilbao, you will find the church of San Nicolas. In the 14th century, there was already a church on this site, but in 1756 it had to be completely rebuilt. The baroque church was designed by architect Ignacio de Ibero and was dedicated to Saint Nicholas, patron saint of sailors. The showpiece of the octagonal interior is the beautifully carved altar.

The Parque de Doña Casilda is the most famous park in Bilbao. The park is also called parque Casilda Iturrizar, named after the benefactor who donated this park to Bilbao. The park was built between 1912 and 1920 in English romantic style and is an oasis of peace in the city. It is located near the Guggenheim Museum and the Maritime Museum on the Nervión River in the Indautxu district. It is a park to stroll through the 8.52 hectares via the many paths and along the decorative fountain or to watch the birds at the duck pond. Since 1940, the museum of fine arts, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, has also been located next to this park.
